Ways to keep your cool as the temperatures rise

We have it on good authority that July is deemed National Popsicle Month, and if there is any debate as to the validity of whether or not July has earned that title, we’ll gladly point your attention to the 100+ degree temperatures that Houston and surrounding areas are experiencing. Hot and Humid might be an understatement, but we have found some festive ways to stay cool, if you find yourself outside in the heat for any amount of time.

If you are in need of homemade popsicle recipes, there is a comprehensive list of 21 flavors you can experiment with here: https://www.brit.co/pretty-popsicles/

However, if you are in the mood for something that does not require you to own any popsicle forms or molds, you can try out local retailer Popston. They consider their work “Art On A Stick” and can be found online at https://www.facebook.com/popstontx/ .

Finally, if you don’t even feel like lifting more than a finger, we want to highlight Austin-based GoodPop. They are carried in many grocery stores, including HEB, as well as ship directly from the company. They use natural ingredients and make some creative popsicles as well as some time honored classics. Find them here: https://shop.goodpops.com

However you choose to cool off this Summer, 2nd Pair of Hands hopes that you enjoy your time in the sun responsibly with plenty of reapplications of sunscreen and proper hydration. Here’s to these long, bright days ahead!
